The Balla Boyz Club releases Vol. 1, a timeless collection of classic rap.
The Balla Boyz Club, also known as the BBC, is back with their latest album, Vol. 1. The album features songs that are over 20 years old but sound like they were made today. The BBC consists of four young rappers, Doeboy, Gia’Vonni Hollywood, Cornbread, Iceburg Slim, and Producer DJ Tabasco Black, who set out in the mid-1990s to make timeless rap music. They used classic 90’s studio equipment such as the CAD E200 mic, Akai MPC 3000LE, Korg Trinity, and Alesis QSR to produce their music. Giving them a sound that producers currently try to recreate on computers.
The Balla Boyz Club produced three albums and spawned numerous solo, compilation projects, and mixtapes.
Since those days, the BBC have settled into careers, raising families and surviving the everyday struggles.
Recently however, a hard drive was recovered containing unreleased tracks from their early years. These songs are ready for release as is and showcase the BBC's flashy, deep, misogynistic, sexual, and political lyrical content.
Vol. 1 is a collection of classic rap songs with an underground commercial feel. Some tracks sound gritty and underground, while others show off the BBC's impressive lyrical skills. According to DJ Tabasco Black, "Back in those days, no song sounded alike on great albums. In our heads, we were competing against great lyricists in their prime like OutKast, Field Mob, Nas, Kurupt, 8Ball & MJG, and The Hot Boyz."
Fans of classic rap won't want to miss out on Vol. 1, an album that showcases the Balla Boyz Club's incredible talents and unique perspective on the world. The album is available now on all major streaming platforms, and fans can also purchase the physical release at select retailers.
